As we flip the calendar from 2020 to 2021, it is easy to think that things will simply return to \\\'normal\\\'. A vaccine has begun rolling out, professional sports are coming back - sans bubbles - but last year has proved to us that sport will not be the same going forward. We spent a lot of last year learning about racial inequities, humanizing athletes and acknowledging the need for change. Coming into this new year, how do we move from acknowledgement into action? And what are the tough conversations we need to have in sport for 2021? It\\\'s time to have the tough conversations on mental health, youth sport and DE&I (diversity, equity and inclusion). On the next show we talk to the experts who are doing the work to create solutions that impact the future of sport.

When the first COVID-19 relief bill was passed last spring, we gathered a group of experts to help youth and local sports organizers understand the impact that it would have on their organizations. Provisions in this latest round of relief, including those that now reflect our industry\'s needs, raise new questions for us all— so we\'re co-hosting an event with the PLAY Sports Coalition to dig into it. Join the PLAY Sports Coalition and industry experts in a three-part conversation: Part 1: Your Relief - With PPP round two and new tax credits and provisions, we want to get youth sports leaders what they need to uncover any potential federal relief. We\'ll provide you the key insights and tactics you need to help your organization survive. Part 2: Your Voice - The new administration recently announced plans for another round of COVID-19 relief from the federal government. What provisions would directly support youth sports in your community? Share your perspective at this time. Have ideas in advance? Please email jtrayes@leagueapps.com to let us know. Part 3: Our Road Ahead - A thriving and equitable youth sports culture is critical to our industry and those we serve - young people, their families and your communities. We want to share why we believe so, what the road ahead will look like for youth sports advocacy and legislation and how we can drive success.

College sports’ future faces a pivotal year in 2021, as the U.S. Senate turns Democratic, the Supreme Court hears a case on college athlete compensation, and some states start allowing athletes to be paid for use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). The most expansive reform effort is the College Athletes Bill of Rights, introduced last December by four Democratic senators to protect and grow athlete rights. The proposal goes beyond outside endorsement deals for athletes and also includes group licensing, revenue sharing, and medical care after athletes leave school. The proposed bill would go farther than the desires of many Republicans and NCAA members as the clock ticks to July 1, when Florida’s bipartisan NIL law goes into effect that would create different rules for different states. What if Congress adopted the College Athletes Bill of Rights or some elements of the proposal? What would that mean for the participants and the games that fans love to watch?
